BIOGRAPHY
I am a multidisciplinary learner interested in creative ways to share ideas and experiences outside of spoken language. I have lived my life in Omaha, Nebraska since I was born here in 1988. For most of my 20’s I worked as a cook by day and night and spent my off hours making experimental music. As I’ve grown older and realized the impact of restricted access to education on a society, I’ve become more interested in becoming an educator myself, and so to start, I’ve returned to school to finish my degree. I’m very interested in technology, specifically robotics, prosthetics, and the future of virtual reality, which seems to intersect with my interest in music technology. Having only left America once to travel to Vietnam with my partner, I desperately want to travel again before I am too old and creaky to fly.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Within music and visual art I’m drawn in by unique textures and work for sounds which are reminiscent of landscapes and materials. I work towards a sense of space and distance and find that repetitive and vast imagery is a good match. I’m motivated to work towards reflective and spatially rich music because as a young person it was very cathartic for me, spacey and droney, repetitive sounds have always brought me peace, so I have learned to make them as best I can. I especially enjoy making music which is at a tense place between relief and anxiety, since it can be the most cathartic for myself and for others. I’m also very interested in music which does makes you feel things which can’t seem to be express or understood in any way other than by listening to or making that specific bit of music.
